After David’s sin with Bathsheba, he was forgiven. 2 Samuel 12:13 states that he was not executed, and Psalm 51 expresses his sincere repentance. That means he would not be kicked out of the monarchy. The prophet Samuel had been sent by God with the instructions, “I will send you to Jesse the Bethlehemite, for I have provided for myself a king among his sons” (1 Samuel 16:1). David was God’s designated king—and remained so. The promises of God had been given to him, and through him, the purposes of God for His people were being set forward. David’s heinous sin did not alter that. But the Lord said that David’s sin had caused the enemies of the Lord to blaspheme; therefore, the sword will not depart from his house. David’s painful experiences with the death of the newborn and then the subsequent acts of his sons Amnon, Absalom, and Adonijah illustrate the fulfillment of that statement. If some ask how he got away with it, he did not!. We just need to be aware of all that happened to David.
